Welcome to our grade one Science Program Blog!
Your child’s teachers this year will be Mrs. Kemski in Room 9 and Miss Skikevitch in Room 11. We are excited to be part of the Valley View Science Program. It should be an exciting, fun-filled and challenging year. Because we will be team-teaching, our daily routines, programs delivery, and expectations will be very similar. The following is some important information for the 2017/2018 school year. Blogs: Blogs will be updated on Fridays. The Blog is an important form of communication that will inform you of student learning. The Blog also has important information about our upcoming Field Studies. Please be sure to read our weekly Blog, so you are notified in advance and able to volunteer. Volunteers: We are looking forward to a rich and rewarding relationship with our volunteers. If you will be volunteering for our field studies this year, please ensure that you have completed the Volunteer Registration Form and the Police Security Clearance Check at the beginning of the year. These forms are required by the Calgary Board of Education before volunteering can take place. IT IS A REQUIREMENT OF THE SCIENCE PROGRAM FOR PARENTS TO VOLUNTEER AT LEAST 3 TIMES A YEAR. Indoor Shoes: Please make sure your child has a pair of indoor and outdoor shoes at school each day. Students must have a clean, dry pair of shoes to wear in the school and at the gym. Runners are preferable. Also, your child must be able to fasten their own shoes. If your child cannot tie their own shoes, Velcro shoes are recommended. Water Bottles: Students enjoy drinking water throughout the day. You child is welcome to keep a water bottle in the classroom; however, we will send it home for washing during the week. Important Notices: All important notices, such as information about upcoming field studies, will be sent home in your child’s blue communication folder. Anything regarding field studies needs to be filled out and returned to the school as soon as possible. If forms are not returned on time, students will not be able to participate in the field study. We are looking forward to a great year with a wonderful group of students! We hope this information has been helpful. Please contact us if you have any questions or concerns. Yours truly, Ms. Skikevitch and Mrs. Kemski |
