On Thursday, students enjoyed their first Community Walk. We observed many interesting colors and patterns along the way. In particular, students enjoyed visiting the park with outdoor fitness equipment. We had lots of fun exploring and learning how to use the equipment. This field study encouraged an active lifestyle and also helped familiarize students with how to interact safely with residential roadways. It is important for students to learn how to follow rules of safety and properly use a crosswalk. These are valuable learning experiences and can help make sure everyone gets to where we are going safely.
On our walk, we observed patterns in fences. In class, students investigated ways to arrange linear materials into fence patterns. Students were given toothpicks and presented with a problem to solve: What fence pattern can you create with these materials?
What Happens When We Mix Black and White Paint?
Students painted using black and white tempera paints. The kids mixed the paints together to discover that adding black to white creates various shades of grey.
Room 9 & 11 will be sharing their learning every Friday.
